Only six of us tonight, just before St Sebastian's, but a lovely evening all the same.
The first dance class of 2014 was delightfully well-attended (thanks, everyone!) and lots of fun, in spite of the humidity.
A wonderfully varied evening, with some new dancers, and some challenges for the old hands.
Here is the likely Ball List for Canterbury Faire in 2014. Many thanks to Her Excellency Isabel Maria!
A good mix of harder and easier matieral this evening:
A quiet evening, with just three of us.
Four of us tonight, and another fairly intense session.
We revised some old repertoire, then attempted Pavana Matthei.
Dance journal entries have been a little sparse for the last few weeks, but dancing has not.
Many of our usual dances, with a few twists.
Lots of dances this evening, as we brushed up for the ball on Saturday.
Some more intense practice on recent material rather than dancing by request this week. A good workout for the knees!
A new dance - Bassa Colonna, and several old ones.
A fairly quiet night at dance practice this week, but we got through a number of dances in preparation for the upcoming Birthday Ball and Bal d'Argent.
We think we've settled on a new version of Rustica Amorosa, and will feel no need to change it soon.
Things we've known well in the past, but not done recently, or which our recent practice has taught us we need more work on.
- Amoroso
- Rostiboli for two, then for three, focussing on ombreggiare and ondeggiare
- Branle de Poictou
- Branle de Montarde
Our first class for the year: revisiting a bunch of old favourites, practicing the galliard, and learning Gelosia for the first time in several years.
- Amoroso
- Rostiboli Gioioso
- Anello
- Gelosia
- Galliards
- Triory
- Washerwomen's branle
- Horses' branle
- Earl of Essex Measure
