Practising for the CF ball

A mix of simpler dances, practice for the Canterbury Faire Ball, and revision of some more advanced stuff.

Winter Warm-up Rehearsals

We're rehearsing for the Winter Warm-up at present.

  • Belfiore - Anna de Wilde will lead this; the other places are open
  • La Figlia di Guglielmino - Katherina Weyssin  and William de Cameron
  • Spero - Katherina Weyssin, Anna de Wilde, Katherine of Glastonbury
  • Washerwomen's branle - audience participation, Katherina will lead, everyone will dance

Rehearsal notes:

We will all start at the back-right corner (from the audience's perspective), by the music, as usual.

Trumpet, flute and recorder trios

Greg, Christine and Katherina have been playing trios, with whatever instruments we had to hand. That meant Christine on a flute on the top line, Greg on trumpet on the middle line (transposing as he went - we didn't have a B-flat version of the music for him), and Katherina on the bottom line on either flute or tenor recorder.

All the pieces we tried were from Twenty-one Pieces Transcribed by Erich Katz, 1400-1630 (in Katherine's red folder labelled "Ren trios").
