New Baron and Baroness chosen!
The Baronial selection process has run its course, and Their Majesties have made their decision. The next Baron and Baroness of the Barony of Ildhafn are to be Lord Rudiger and Lady Aylenora.
The proclamation from Their Majesties is included below so you may read the full text of Their words yourselves.

Event Report: St Sebastian's
The Braythwayte Manor hosted the Feast of St Sebastian for the third time last weekend. Five of us from Ildhafn City, plus Amalie visiting from Southron Gaard, travelled to Rotorua for the event. Of course, St Sebastian is the patron of archers, so there was much shooting in a wide variety of archery games. Judging by the bruises on Anna's arm, she is indeed an Iron Lady, if possibly a slow learner.
St Sebastian's - postponed
Due to potentially inclement weather (ie, it's probably going to hose down with rain), St Sebastian's has been postponed by one week. If you were going to be attending but you're unable to make it along on the new dates (March 12th/13th), please contact Ed on as@cluain.sca.org.nz.
Baronial announcement and selection process - polling closes Saturday 19th of March!
Emrys and Beatriz, Baron and Baroness of Ildhafn, send warm greetings to all their Barony!
We must sadly announce our intention to step down as your Baron and Baroness at the upcoming Royal Visit on the 30th of April. While we have very much enjoyed this role, and would like to have been able to continue for some years further, growing work commitments mean that we simply do not have the time and energy to give to what we would like - and what we believe you deserve - to the Barony.

Summer Break
Between St Catherine's and Canterbury Faire (that is, for December and January) all our regular weekly practices and training sessions become a bit . . . irregular. Some of them will continue (though they might not be listed on the calendar), some take a break altogether, and some will focus on a particular item for a while.
Our usual schedule will be in place again by mid February.
If you would like to be part of any of the summer practices, please check with the person running it a few days in advance, to check that it's on that week:
Tablet-Weaving Workshop
Lady Amalie was kind enough to teach a tablet weaving workshop for us, while visiting from Southron Gaard. Tablet weaving was very popular for much of the middle ages for creating decorative ribbons and braids. It's great for modern re-enactors because you can weave beautiful, historically-accurate bands with limited materials and space, and without a specially-made loom. (In today's class we tied one end of our braids to a chair and the other end to our belts).
SCA Census
The SCA is us — you and me doing what we do. But who are we, what do we do, and how can we support each other to make the SCA the type of organization we can be proud of?
Ildhafn on the radio!
On the 24th of July 2009, the citizenry of Ildhafn invaded a local Auckland radio station. Well, to be more accurate (since it was 7am when we had to be there) no actual invasion took place. More correctly, the hosts of BigFM invited us to come along and be part of their Friday breakfast show and to talk about who we are and what we do.
Much hilarity ensued, and Ildhafn's foray onto the airwaves was deemed a success by all involved. A recording of the proceedings is available here, and pictures can be found in our gallery! (Click on the image below to be taken directly there)
