Tuesday Tunes Music session - 26th February 2019

Present:

Katherine of Glastonbury, harp
Elyna Delynor, alto rebec and harp
Debbie of Ildhafn, various recorders
Sympkyn of the Moor, hammered dulcimer

Tunes played:

- Belle Qui Tiens Ma Vie
Arrangement same as used in Southron Gaard I believe, sheet music HERE.

-New Almain
One of the Old Measures, sheet music HERE.

- Washerwomans Bransle - HERE

- Scottish Bransle - HERE

- Il Canario
Another good one to learn by ear. Sheet music is also available. Audio can be made available. The dance is an improvisation structure and can go on for well over 10 minutes, so once you've learned the basic tune it's a good one for musicians to improvise with also.

- Splendens Ceptigera
A canon from the Red Book, easily learned by ear. Sheet music HERE.

 - To Drive the Cold Winter Away
Still new to most of us. Sheet music HERE. Players can choose to play single bass notes following the chord structure as an easy alternative to any of the written lines.

- Cantiga 119
Sheet music HERE. An old favourite to many of us.

- Cantiga 278
Sheet music HERE. Less familiar to some.

***NOTE: Anybody who is not able to make the group sessions but wants to be involved in these musical endeavours PLEASE email me - we can talk about how we can fit things together remotely!

ALSO NOTE: We practice weekly at 7.30pm on Tuesday, and take the school holidays off.
