More on Meyer's first play - Cuts

Adding Cuts to Meyer's first play:

We revised the 8-part sequence we've been working on for the last few weeks.

So far, we've always had "the opponent" attack with thrusts (as Meyer specifies). Tonight, we decided to see if the defenses are effective against cuts. We found it reasonably effective, with little or no modification, against cuts coming diagonally towards the torso; the further we deviated from that the more the defense needed to change.

We found significant differences in the way we make the change from Ochs to Low Guard: David tends to have the point low, so will intercept the opponent's blade as if he were barring, and slice off from below; Patrick and Katherine tend to have the hilt low, so will intercept the opponent's blade in something like eisenport, and slice off from above.
