Wednesday Night Singing

Submitted by Katherina Weyssin on April 23, 2014 - 9:36pm

This week - April 23rd

We spent the largest chunk of the evening working on La Tricotea, once again, especially the last portion. Ave vera virginitas is going well indeed, and almost ready to set aside for now.

Gush forth my tears and Verbum caro factum est are both familiar, but both needed a refresher.

This was our first attempt at Stella Splendens (though several had met it before). The whole group sang the upper line (chorus and first verse only) with Katherina breaking off to the second part, once the tune was solid.

Participating: William de Cameron, Katherina Weyssin, Vettoria di Giovanni, Katherine of Glastonbury.

Plans for next time

  • La Tricotea: get to the end successfully, introduce to Yvonne
  • Ave vera virginitas: finishing touches
  • Stella splendens: more work

Stella splendens:

I'd like, ultimately, to be able to use this one as a work-song: one we know we enough to sing without words, while washing dishes or waiting in line. Once we've all learned and memorised the first verse or two, we might each learn one or two later verses to learn.

Ah Robin:

We'll return to this one when I've found a version that suits our ranges well.
