An excellent start to Wednesday night singing for 2014.
Wednesday the 19th - what we did
We'll put this one aside soon, but it's a good friendly warm-up for now - something to get our voices going that we all know well.
An easy round, but not one we've done for a while. This year, we'll try to memorise the words. Tonight, they were still a bit of a stretch.
We tried the same dynamics we used last year: slow increase in the first half (laudemus virginem mater est) and slow decrease on the second (et eius filius mater est).
Though everyone needed a refresher on their lines, this came together better than ever it did last year. The harmonies are dense, and we all know the top line well, so it's easy to be drawn onto someone else's part.
Another old favourite, to start the second half on an easy note. Vettoria provided some alternative words.
Only the second time most of us had seen this; and the first time at a singing class. This is coming together very nicely.
Plans for next week
- Jubilate Deo - quick warm-up
- Laudemus virginem - continued work; aiming to introduce Spendends Ceptigera the following week
- La Sirena - continued work; make sure each line is solid against the bass
- Laudate - continued work; Katherine to create midis.
