More Holiday singing

Submitted by Katherina Weyssin on December 30, 2012 - 9:50pm

Another lovely session: long and intense, and very productive. Thanks for hosting it, Anna.

O my heart

A warm-up song. We tried a somewhat unconventional arrangement of voices today: Anna singing the top (soprano) line alone, Christine and William de Cameron singing the middle (tenor) line, with Christine an octave higher than William, and Katherina attempting the bass line an octave higher than it is set, in the alto range.

It was a surprisingly pleasant setting of the song, as well as an effective warm-up.

Gush forth, my tears

We're definitely singing it in F. It's coming together nicely.

Margot labourez les vignes

Another simple work-song for our collection. There are several 16thC settings as part-songs, but (for now) we're doing it with one line only, in a simple call-and-response format. It should be great for dishes, dinner queues, and waiting for court.

Il Bianco e dolce cigno

The first page is now quite solid, and the second page variable. We've only the top three parts to play with.

Laudemus Virginem

I ducked outside to make a phone call and singing broke out. Yay!
