In the fifteenth-century Italian dances (all but So Ben) we focussed on perfecting our ondeggiare: the slow rise and quick fall in each step. Our 15th and 16th C technique had become a little blurred, so some careful work on timing the rise and fall was good for our dancing, but tough on our calves.

This was the first attempt at So ben for some, and the second for others. Once again, we did improvised galliard variations rather than Negri's mutanza. Next week, time permitting, we will learn Negri's.
