Music session - 11th July 2017

Present:

Sympkyn of the Moor, hammered dulcimer
Katherine of Glastonbury, harp
William de Cameron, tenor recorder
Elena y Delyn, bray harp

Tunes played:

I had no plan for this session so instead went around demanding that various people in turn choose a tune for us to play next. Can be a haphazard method but it turned out to be a satisfying mix on this occasion. Especially bearing in mind we have had a fortnight off for various reasons so some rough patches had developed.

First a nice warm up tune: Earl of Essex Measures. Seldom any problems with this one.

Then Lorrayne Almain - less comfortable but not bad. Has suffered a little from neglect but we gave it a repolish.

Madame Sosilia's Almain - seems to be our current challenge. Will start with this next session I think as it seems to be more fiddly than it sounds like it should be, if that makes sense. We haven't given it the solid work in the past that we have many of the others, so will work to remedy that.

Then we played Scottish Bransle with much vigour. Very easy for this one to creep up in speed. Such fun!

Washerwoman's Bransle followed.

Then did Pinagay. We do like these bransles.

After that we played Amoroso, as it too has been neglected of late. It mostly seems to still be under the fingers although extra polishing wouldn't hurt.

Finally we revisited our Cantiga 119, after which it seemed a good time to stop before brains fell out.

**Reminder**
Future music sessions will take place on Tuesdays rather than Mondays. Same venue (email me for address), same time (7.30pm - 9.30pm).
Newcomers are very welcome :)
Regards,
Elena y Delyn
