King Baron Sir Master Bain the Magnificent

History:
In 2024 the Barony of Ildhafn hosted a most magnificent Crown Tournament that saw the wreaths go onto the heads of the future King Bain and Queen Iglesia.
There were many lovely things about the reign, and many beautiful moments that warmed hearts and made us cheer. They were considered and kind, and their aim to bring joy and unity to everyone was wonderful to witness.
I was asked to pen a tongue in cheek poem for Sir Bain by his Queen. These are two gentles that I have known for many years and shared many adventures with all over the Known World. I was worried about how far to push the cheek….however…after checking with the Queen the below poem was read out in Southron Guard at the Coronation feast.
The King expressed his thanks and it was an honour to be able to show a less serious side to it all, especially when it can be a role that makes you feel ‘off limits’ to a lot of people and can create a nervousness if you don’t (and even if you do!) know the people in the office at the time.

So, without further adieu:

King Baron Sir Master Bain the magnificent

Bain is marvelous,
Bain in Bold
Bain is witty
Bain is……
The perfect age for a King and man

Bain is friendly
Bain is shrewd
Bain is brilliant
Bain is …………….
A paragon of virtue who never would say a bad word or utter anything naughty or indiscrete
EVER

Bain is fit
Bain is taught
Bain has prowess
Bain is
The perfect height to do all that a Madgesty and Peer of the Realm should do within the legal constructs of the society.

Bain has passion
Bain is quick
Bain is Daring
Bain is
Never one to act the fool or do things that might be amusing or irreverent. Bain is the model of what we should all strive for….and then some.

The man, the myth, the legend. Bain haunts the corridors of power (and even our toilet stalls)* and is never afraid to stand up for the underdog or for what is right and good in this world.

But in all seriousness. We love you both and wish you all the best for your reign.
Both of you are an Inspiration in so many ways, and on that note, Iglesia,  your beauty, talent, calmness and kindness precede you wherever you walk. We know you will always do what is right and good as you are steady, kind, gracious, witty and thoughtful, and you will use these qualities as you navigate the role and guide others through theirs.
For that now, I would ask to sing you a song of Peace, and ask all that know it to join in.
We wish you a peaceful reign, as you both deserve this and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.
(I then led a round of ‘Donna Nobis Pacem’ in the feast hall and anyone that knew it joined in.)

*Count Jayne at Festival when they were Prince and Princess, might have printed out small pictures of Bain and placed them all around the site with tape to things, people and places. One such place might have been the portaloos..)
