La la la, je ne l'ose dire

Date:
16th C
Discussion:

A pretty, silly, four-part song by Pierre Certon (c. 1500-1572).

Rough translation:

La la la, I shouldn't tell, la la la, I'll tell you.

There is a man in out village who is jealous of his wife.

He is not jealous without cause, he's altogether a cuckold.

La la la ...

Sound:

A youtube clip of the King's Singers: very fast, but very clear.

A slower version, from Quartetto Vocale.

You can find each part alone on the old Ildhafn music page (thanks, Cicilia).
