Tablet-Weaving Workshop

Submitted by Katherina Weyssin on September 18, 2010 - 5:13pm

Lady Amalie was kind enough to teach a tablet weaving workshop for us, while visiting from Southron Gaard. Tablet weaving was very popular for much of the middle ages for creating decorative ribbons and braids. It's great for modern re-enactors because you can weave beautiful, historically-accurate bands with limited materials and space, and without a specially-made loom. (In today's class we tied one end of our braids to a chair and the other end to our belts).

Thanks to Amalie for teaching, and Caterine for arranging and hosting it.
