Tuesday Tunes Music session - 4th September 2018

Present:

Katherine of Glastonbury, harp
Elyna Delynor, alto rebec
Emily of Ildhafn, soprano recorder
Sympkyn of the Moor, hammered dulcimer

Tunes played:

- If Ye Love Me (Thomas Tallis)
Sheet music is found in the Snogbook, pages 34 & 35.

This session we had Emily on soprano, Sympkyn and Elyna both supporting alto and Katherine playing the tenor line. We played first and second bit separately and then ran through the whole thing start to finish - first bit then second bit then repeat second bit. Still a bit wobbly but coming together.

- Stella Splendens
Version used is on page 66 of the Snogbook. Note that after bar 34 we hold for another bar, so effectively the minim D and A become four beats long. Similarly when we repeat from the start, the very last bar also becomes four beats. We customarily play a chorus to finish, after the last verse.

As usual we played with different combinations. We like this tune.

- Oh My Heart
Version used is on page 50 of the Snogbook. Mostly played as written except the dulcimer has no Eb so when Sympkyn is playing the Tenor line he uses a C instead. Other instruments have this option if the Eb is too high for comfort.

Again we played the part swapping game.

As written.
