Title: Slate ulu
Amongst arctic cultures, the ulu is a common tool used to skin both fish and marine mammals, as well as as an all-purpose knife. In the Inuit culture, ulu are made from slate, with wooden handles, fastened together with bast-fibre cordage. Having recently nearly damaged a nerve while fleshing a salmon skin with a modern knife, I decided a more ergonomic knife would be useful! Materials: slate, fruit wood, bast fibre cordage.
