Flow, my tears

Ildhafn Music Catalogue [1]  ~   Crescent Isles Dance-music [2]

Date:
c. 1600
Discussion:

A famous piece by John Dowland, also known as the "Lacrimae antiquae": there are settings for lute, lute + voice, multiple instruments, and multiple voices.

Sound:

This is one of my favourite recordings: soprano and lute [3].

Composer:
Dowland
Sheet Music:

There are several settings on Sarge Gerbode's lute site [4] (a fabulous resource, with many thousands of pieces).

You'll find it set as a lute-song (i.e. for solo soprano or tenor voice, and a lute) under "Flow my tears [5]" and as a piece for five instruments (e.g. recorders) under "Lacrimae Antiquae [6]".
