Officer reports

===============

Seneschal (David)

---------

David will be stepping down as Seneschal at 12th night. Applications from those interested in taking over as Ildhafn Seneschal close at St Catherine's Faire.

Have been working with the Council and with Vicki Hyde regarding looking at purchasing a poster display stand suitable for use at demos etc. Due to time constraints, we may not have gotten the material for artwork to Vicki in time. David to continue working on this.

Fencing (David)

-------

Ildhafn rapier championship tournament to be held at St Catherine's Faire.

Practices have continued to be held on Sunday mornings. Matt is looking at potential halls out in Te Atatu which we may be able to use to escape Auckland's unpredictable weather.

David needs cheque from $180 for the masks.

Reeve (Gary)

-----

Current balances total $3,533.

David has some cheques to be deposited (bookings for St Catherine's)

Herald (Clare)

------

Things continue to hum along in the Herald's office. This month there were 4 submissions sent to Crux Australis (Alan the Traveller, Geffrey ðe Wulf, Guðrún Halldísardóttir (name only) and the College of Saint Dionysius). A submission for Androu le Greyn is prepared, awaiting his signature and payment. Willemyne and Isabelle's consultations are nearing completion, and Isabelle has already paid her fees. This month I am paying particular attention to court heraldry. Their Excellencies wish to review the ceremonies of the Barony to update them, and adjust them to suit their style, and this will be done before St. Catherine's Fair.

Money received from Isabelle.

Benedict Stonhewer Astrolabe Herald has a query of the Ildhafn Council. Astrolabe has a certain amount of funds available to improve the libraries of the groups in New Zealand. If any purchase was to be made for the Ildhafn Herald's library would the council be prepared to pay half? These would probably mostly be more name resources.

Currently the library has good resources for English and Norse names.

This is supplemented by my own library including English place names, Scottish names and Irish forenames. I would be on the lookout for books on German, French, Spanish names next I expect, although it all depends what comes along at a reasonable price.

- Council defers considering this gracious offer at this time until further discussion with Clare can take place (either via email or in person), re usefulness of books, expected prices etc.

Marshal (Ross)

-------

Have only just arrived back in NZ, so not much to report at this stage.

Final update about combat archery has been sent to the lists and the outcome appears to be satisfactory.

Recommendation that if the Barony will be purchasing archery target materials sufficient money and time is spent to ensure the resulting targets are of good quality as this will assist in creating targets which will last - something which will benefit archery in the Barony and increase the enjoyment of participants.

Chatelaine (Wendy)

----------

Organising Yule. Not much else to report.

Constable (Nick)

---------

Anything unclaimed in the lost property will be auctioned off at the end of the market at St Catherine's.

Archery (Nick)

-------

Have been looking at target pricings, as requested. A design similar to that used in Cluain works out to about $260-$270 per target.

Nick has several ideas for alternate designs for a lower cost, and will write these up with costings, and also ask on the Ildhafn list to see who has spare timber/boards around.

Arts & Sciences (Michaela)

---------------

Will start prodding people this week for classes at St Catherine's.

At this stage, there are 3. More would of course be welcome.

Inquiry from Constance about reporting structure, have forwarded query on to Kingdom.

Going to get onto the AUMG mailing list to canvas interest in A&S topics.

Baroness (Kelsie)

--------

Now is the time to get your recommendations in to the B&B for court at St Catherine's Faire!

General Business

================

BJ asks how many people will be attending the SCANZ AGM, and also how many people are interested in doing a guerilla shopping expedition on the Saturday. Indications to BJ please.

Vanessa is continuing to run unofficial equestrian training days.

- Waiting to hear back from the Kingdom Equestrian Marshal about marshal status.

David to investigate whether or not there is an Ildhafn stamp suitable

for marking of baronial property (particularly books).

If anyone is coming up from Cluain in the next week or two, can they

please get in contact with David about bringing some items back up from

Cluain which are understood to still be there from Coronation.

From previous minutes:

Plans for a Baronial workshop to prepare things for St Catherines:

- Finishing off the marshalls tabards

=> Is someone interested in organising this?
