Mostly 15th century

Submitted by Katherina Weyssin on June 29, 2012 - 6:07pm

A good evening: mostly revision of dances that one or more of us would like to know better.

Present: Caterina Nuova, Caterine de Vantier, Anna de Wilde, Christine Bess Duvaunt, William de Cameron, Katherina Weyssin

Open dances:

  • Ly Bens Distonys
  • Rostiboli Gioioso
  • Branles Cassandra, Pinagay and Charlotte
  • Amoroso

We also revised the basic 15th century Italian step-vocabulary, and spent a while practising sempii and doppii in bassadanza misura. The drill we use is "4 sempii, 3 doppii; repeat" to the first part of the music for Rostiboli Gioioso, walking in a circle to each person dances alone, but we can all see each other. This allows each dancer to focus on just the steps or on ornamentation, as suits them.

Advanced dances:

  • Ginevra
