Ildhafn's Collegium & Workshop Weekend

Ildhafn invites you to an ungarbed and catered weekend of learning. A range medieval crafts and classes are going to be available to wet your appetite, as well, you may well find some opportunity for help if you're working on your own medieval projects.

Starting Saturday morning and ending Sunday afternoon with overnight bunking and camping options available on Saturday night.

Overnight accommodation and options for self-catering food components are available but why pass up the opportunity to learn medieval cooking and eat heartily. To that end book now to secure your place.

When: Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th of April 2023.

Site opens from 9am for sign in and classes begin from 10am each day

Saturday nights Medieval dinner is capped at 50.

Bookings for catered event close: Sunday 23rd April

Bookings for day tripping (offboard) close:

Wednesday 26th April

Accomodation

Camping (incl. RV/campervan) and Bunking options are available for Saturday night and are included in the pricing options.

If you are coming from further afield and require accomodation on Friday night please advise so we can better meet your needs.

Saturday

Site opens: 9am Set up & Sign in from 9am
Saturday Activities: Class Schedule to be confirmed
Meals:  Lunch 1pm and Dinner from 6pm
From 7pm + Activities as the night takes us, dancing, signing, tavern games and maybe some classes appropriate for the evening

Sunday

Site opens: 9am Set up & Sign in from 9am
Meals:  Breakfast approx. 8-9am Lunch 1pm
Sunday Activities: Class schedule to be confirmed

Pack down from 2pm off site by 3pm

Pack down should be relatively easy with meal clean up, activities clean up and food/utensils clean up all localised.

  • 14th C headware/pouches, shirts & chemises, hand sewing and finishing techniques
  • Medieval meal planning
  • Food for lean times: how to prepare acorns for eating
  • Making bread with live yeast
  • Spoon carving
  • Drop spindle for beginners
  • Lucet cord making
  • Nalbinding
  • The celestial clock: using stars to tell time
  • Tentative classes and space for archery, heavy and or fencing practice.

Other activities to be scheduled as opportunities present.

Self-Catering (Off-Board option)

This includes bringing your own lunch and/or dinner is an option for booked day trips, this includes bringing your own picnic or a plate of medieval food to share as well. Note venue resources (storage, cooling and heating) will be prioritised for the on-board event meals.

 

Payment

Direct deposit is preferred. Cash payment, by prior arrangement, is an option for day-trippers.

 

Sign-in

While this is not an official garbed SCA event we are required to complete formal sign ins for H&S and collection non-member, minor participation, and registrar purposes. SCA conventions and policies will be applied for consistancy and can be reviewed here and will be available at sign-in. You are reminded that any images need the express permission of the individual(s) before being published on any official SCA website or SCA social media platform.
