Fencing practice

Fight like a musketeer!

We get together on Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm in Greenlane (at St Oswald's Church Hall, 193 Campbell Rd, Greenlane) to practice rapier, longsword, cloak and dagger, and a whole mix of other ways of using a sword. Have you ever wanted to be d'Artangan? We may be able to help...

Using the SCA's fencing rules (http://lochac.sca.org/rapier) and the various manuals written by early fencing masters, we're doing our best to learn the skills of a swordsman (or woman) from the 15th or 16th century. Our combat is all done with modern fencing masks (or equivalent) and blunted swords, and we have an authorisation process before you're allowed to enter tournaments.

Most weeks at the moment we're doing sparring and impromptu lessons, and we sometime run formal classes. We have some spare equipment available to get you started, so if you're interested, please get in touch.

We ask those attending to pay $10/week to help cover hall hire - if you just want to drop in and have a look at what we do though, that's fine (but we'd appreciate knowing that you're coming). Please email Derek Tomes (rapier@ildhafn.lochac.sca.org) if you're not a regular attendee, so we know to expect you.

Event Date and Time:
Repeats every week every Wednesday until Wed Apr 10 2019.
