Here’s an explanation of the submission (I’ll try to keep it as short and simple as I can!):
This is a story my partner and their friend wrote. I’ve reread it a few times and adored it so much I learnt how to book bind just to make it into a physical item.
All the colour choices and decoration choices relate to the main character (even the stitching colour being an ashy grey).
I learnt how to format and justify text to book printing standards and learnt how to create page signatures that are folded together for stitching in parts.
I then pressed and glued gauze to the spine to secure the book block, added green headbands to each end of the spine, and measured+cut out all the parts I needed to create the hardcover.
I made my own book cloth using tissue, heat&bond, and a navy fabric. I glued all of this together, measuring the spine distance using the book block + bend allocation.
I then added silver decorations, and here is the final submission!
