IMG_6478Location confirmed: St Phillips Presbyterian Church, next door to our regular dance practice.

In honour of the coincidentally temporally co-located birthdays of Mistress Katherina Weyssin and Master William de Cameron, the Barony of Ildhafn presents an evening of dancing and board/card-games, with light refreshments provided.

Please bring a plate to share (finger food).

Cost: $13 / $15 for adult members / non-members
$7 for kids 6-16; 5 and under free

Please email the steward to book: Ludwig von Regensburg (patrickbow@gmail.com). Bookings preferred, but not required.

And, of course, if you feel the need to brush-up on your renaissance dancing, dance classes are Thursday nights (Birkdale and City).

What will we dance?

We will decide what to dance on the night: everyone attending will get to pick at least one dance.

At some point during the evening, the herald will approach you and let you know that it is your turn to pick a dance. If you're not certain, or you can't remember the name of the one you want, the herald will be able to help you. You don't have to pick something new - if you'd like to repeat something we've already danced, you are welcome to do so. You can also choose how many people you'd like to join you - some dances are best with everyone joining in, some with just one couple on the dance-floor. The only constraints on what you can choose are that is must be from the sixteenth century or earlier, I must be able to provide music for it, and you need to be able to find someone to dance it with you (unless it's a solo).

If you realise after watching a dance that you knew it after all, and you'd like to repeat it, please let Katherina, Ludwig, or William de Cameron know!

It's likely that many of the dances other people will choose will be from the ball list for last Canterbury Faire, or things we've studied recently at Thursday-night dance practices.
