Music session - 3rd April 2017

Present:

Sympkyn of the Moor, hammered dulcimer
Katherine of Glastonbury, harp and bray harp
William de Cameron, tenor recorder
Elena Harper, harp, bray harp, rebec
Emrys Tudor, violin

Tunes played:

We kicked off with Cantiga 36 which is coming together well.

Then we played the Pease Bransle and then the Horses Bransle. Both still works in progress but getting there.

In preparation for the upcoming Music Evening on May 6th there was a quick bash at one of the other Cantigas that will be performed by a subset of us, and then we all made sure we remembered how the Galliard music went. Turns out we do :)

Next we revised Amoroso, which we haven't played for a wee while. Made me aware that there are some old favourites that sometimes fall off the radar - in future I will try to make sure we cycle through our older repertoire regularly to keep it polished.

Last we played New Almain, which is still a work in progress, but universally declared to be very pretty indeed and well worth learning.

Next week we will work on polishing Cantiga 36 and Cantiga 119, and anything else that we might want to perform at the Music Evening, either as the whole group or a subset as appropriate. Also we'll revise some of the dance tunes that may be required.
