An evening of courtly music

Date and Time:
Saturday, May 6, 2017 - 19:00 to 23:00

Join us for an evening of courtly music (and perhaps some less courtly), dance, games, food, diverse performances and excellent company.

Imagine the atmosphere of a private (but not so private) chamber in a renaissance palace, where courtiers take turns to amuse one another and impress their noble patrons. Some perform, some listen avidly, others prefer to sit further away to converse or play games of chance. There is plentiful, sumptuous food on the sideboards. Sometimes there is dancing as well as music, either a couple showing off their skill, or the whole company joining in.

Booking

Book in advance using this form (preferable) or just turn up on the night. If you book using the form you'll get an email with instructions for paying online, by direct deposit. If you don't book, please bring cash to pay at the door.

Time

The event proper will run from 7pm to 11pm. You're welcome to arrive from 6:30 if you want to get changed there. If you're available to help set up the hall (from 5pm) please do contact the steward to volunteer!

After the event finishes at 11pm, we'd really appreciate it everyone could lend a hand for a little while to pack things up. Thanks in advance for your help!

Bring a friend!

SCA members - please bring a friend! We'd love to see as many new faces as possible. This should be a lovely, relaxed event - a great taste of the SCA for anyone who enjoys music, games, dance, amatuer performance, and all that great stuff that we do.

Food

We'll ask members to bring along a plate of finger-food - sweet or savoury - or perhaps drinks to share (mulled wine? short mead? cordial?). If it's your first time: please be our guests, and bring just yourself ... unless of course you'd like to bring food too!

Mistress katherine kerr has some great tips here for easy-prep (or no-prep) medieval foods: http://webcentre.co.nz/kk/vickiimgs/HOPotlucksMadeEasy.pdf

What to bring - costume, and something to eat off

The Barony of Ildhafn has a goodly selection of medieval and renaissance clothes that we can lend to people who'd like to give re-enactment a whirl. We also have quite a collection of medieval-ish eating gear - platters, goblets, napkins and the like. If you'd like to borrow any of this stuff, please email Katherine at info@ildhafn.lochac.sca.org.

Performing

We'd love to have you perform! If you're a singer, dancer, musician, juggler, orator, puppeteer - please do join in the show. Email Yvonne in advance ( revel@ildhafn.lochac.sca.org), or come and talk to us on the night.

Games

If you have medieval or renaissance board- or card-games that you'd like to share, please bring them along!
