Arts and Sciences Day

Once a month (on the first Sunday of each month) the Barony is hiring some hall space for a couple of hours for people to get together, work on projects together, run some classes or workshops, and talk about what we’re all up to. The third of these will be on May 1st, from 3-5pm at Avondale Lions Hall.

There is a $5 fee to attend to cover hall hire (but your first time attending is free). There’ll be a notebook and money jar by the kitchen hatch - if you can’t find it, please come and see me. It’s been great to see so many people the last couple of months, so come along and join in the fun. It’s not a garbed event, and is easy to attend which makes it a great time to bring someone new along and get to meet people too.

This Sunday we're looking at making (and fitting) an Elizabethan woman's coif and headcloth:
These are suitable for most later-16thC English outfits, and can be adapted to suit styles for some other parts of Europe. They're easy to make, easy to wear, and very, very practical. Of course, there's plenty of room for covering them in embroidery and spangles if that's your thing.

We’d love to see you all there!
